Stompin Tom Connors

Legend goes that he ordered a beer for 40 cents
in the Maple Leaf Hotel in Timmins, Ontario and was 5 cents short.
The bartender saw his guitar and told him to sing a few songs
then he'd give him free beer. He was a hit and packed the place for weeks.

Since then wrote over 300 songs mainly about
Canada and Canadians and founded the
record label Boot Records.

After complaints from club owners about the
damage his thumping boot heel was doing to their
stages, Tom began stomping on plywood sheets.
Once they'd wear through, he'd sometimes auction them off.
One holy board fetched $15.000 for charity.

Sketched from a 70s publicity photo.
