Stephen Hawking thinks Professor Higgs aught to get the
Nobel Prize in Physics for his work.
Apparently, without the Higgs boson particles other particles
wouldn't have any 'drag' on them and would still be zipping around
at the speed of light. The more mass a particle has
the more Higgs boson particles it has slowing it down.
I think that's sort of how it works in a hyper-over-simplified
kind of way. I like this explanation.
